Bosten Lake-Hawaii in Xinjiang
 Bosten Lake is called Bagrax, Baghrash Kol in Mongonia and Uygur language respectively. Other names include Xihai, Yanzhejinghai, Dunhongpuhai in Han Dynasty and Beiwei Dynasty.
Bosten Lake is the biggest inland freshwater lake of China. When the water level is 1048 meters, the lake is 992.2 square kilometers around, 62.8 kilometers long and 15.8 kilometers wide. The maximum depth and width reach 16.5 meters and 35.2 kilometers respectively. The mean depth is 8.08 meters.
With flourish reed and wild lotus, Bosten Lake is the paradise for the waterfowl. Summer sees the lush grass, fall the reed catkins. The fish boats shuttle back and forth and the birds fly. All are just the same as the south of China. The lake will turn to be the natural skating place in winter.
Kaidu River, Qingshui River, Huangshui and Wushitala River all contribute into Bosten Lake that also is the source of the Peacock River. The Peacock River flows into Lop Nur after running through the Kuerle and Weili County. Bosten Lake is the important fishery base of Xinjiang, and the ideal place to raise the mustrat. Mustrat's fur is soft and beautiful, enjoying the fame of " the soft gold" in the international market.
Bosten Lake region is vast and owns various scenarios, many of which are being developed for the scenic spot at present. The following two places are among them.
 (1) Bathing beach --Golden Beach
Golden Beach lies 23 kilometers south of national highway 314 in Wushi County's Talas. It is just the same as the South China Sea, large flat sand and boundless water. 2%=gradient gentle slope, and 2000-meter long 160-meter wide beach turn the beach into a fine natural outdoor bathing place.
Golden Beach is surrounded by high mountains with white ice helmet. Green water, fishing sails and the wandering birds all contribute to this poetic picture.
There is a mysterious valley called " the red butterfly valley" which is north of Golden Beach. The valley owns trickling snow water and ancient trees. Every mid-May, the mulberries are ripe which would attract countless people to go for an outing. Hundreds and thousands of red butterflies flutter in the valley from the last ten days of May to June. It looks as red as fire.
(2) Lotus Flower Lake
Lotus Flower Lake is a small lake and gains name for the flourish lotus flower. The green leaf, the clear water and the pink flower are poetic.
