Common Clipper(Cyrestis Thyodamas)
The wings of Cyrestis thyodamas is of half transparent whitish,
with brown netting twine stripes. In the hind corner of the fore wings of male butterfly
there are some earth color spots or stripes. Cyrestis thyodamas is simple and elegant.
When it stays quite, its wings cover its back plainly. If they stay on a pile of rocks,
the color of their wings has strong protective effects. The protective effect is more like
this if they stay in limestones. There are 3 species of Cyrestis in China. This kind of
butterfly distributes the most widely including Sichuan, Tibet, Yunnan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi,
Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and Taiwan. Its wingspan is 55-60 mm.
