Yangcheng Lake-the battle field in the past
" Shajiabang" and "Kindling in the Reeds" are famous Peking operas at home and abroad and Aqing, the heroine moved innumerable people with her patriotism, loyalty and wit. (Shajiabang tells a story of Chinese people fighting with the Japanese invader and Guomingdang.)
Yangcheng Lake, located in the triangle area of three cities, Suzhou, Wuxian and Kunshan is the place Aqing dealt with caff.
Yangcheng Lake has irregular profile. There are many interweaving bays and channels beside the lake. The two banks inside cut the lake into three parts, East Lake, Central Lake and West Lake, which are connected by the rivers and trenches.
Yangcheng Lake lies in the northern subtropical humid monsoon climate zone. It is rather fertile here, outputting rice (two harvests per year), wheat and aquatic products.
Yangcheng Lake is famous for its aquatic industry especially the crab which has golden hair and white claw. The crab is renowned for its tender meat, rich nutrition and dainty taste at home and abroad. It is the time to catch them from September to November. At present the crabs are raised not only naturally but also manually.
Yangcheng Lake neighbors Shanghai, the Yangze River and Taihu Lake. It is an important base and battlefield of New Fourth Army. So it is not surprising that Yangcheng Lake generated the opera "Shajiabang" that sings high of New Fourth Army and whips the enemy. It also represents the wit of Wu culture.
