Haizi Lake of Jiu Zhaigou
Jiuzhaigou Valley is located in Nanping County, Sichuan province. It is also the headstream of Baishuijiang River, Jialinjiang River's tributary. The name Jiuzhaigou came from nine Tibetan villages scattered throughout the valley.
With majestic and unrivalled emerald lakes, layered waterfalls, colorful forests, snow peaks and a Tibetan folk village, all blending in harmony with each other - Jiuzhaigou is nature's jewel. It has been ranked as state nature reserve and UN human natural heritage. The zone covers 720 square kilometers area, including 20 square-kilometer virgin forest and 114 lakes totaling 3.5 square kilometers.
Continuous mountains, dozens of which taking the snowcap all year long, ward the Valley. With different elevations, the lakes here form a stair-like lake group and many waterfalls.
The water here contains high consistence of calcium carbonate. So the bottom and bank of lakes are all the milky calcium crystal. The waters from the snow mountains as well as from forest creeks are so pure that the lakes are crystal-clear, glittering, sparking and translucent. With algae in the lake, and shrubs around the lake, the splendid stones in the water, when shined, may exhibit colors of blue, yellow, orange or green. Blue sky, white peaks, and jade-green forests, when mirrored in the lake, are all beyond painting and poetry. All these beauties help Jiuzhaigou win the name of "The No. 1 water in China".
Most lakes here are imprisoned lakes, except for some glacial-degraded lakes.
Long Lake is the largest lake in Jiuzhaigou Valley, covering an area of 2.0 km2 with 5 km long and 300 m wide. It is 3060 meters above sea level. The lake wanders along the mountains with the reflection of snow mountains and U-shape valley.
Jing Hai (Mirror Lake) is known for its tranquility. Every time the sun breaks the rosy dawn, the lake looks exactly like a plane mirror, which reflects clearly all around: blue sky, white clouds, distant mountains and trees nearby. With pines around the lake and bryos over the lake, it is really a gorgeous view.
Wucai Chi (Five-Color Pond) and Wuhuahai (Five-Flower pond) are the cadenza of lakes here. The lakes are full of aquatic biological groups, such as sponges, Charophyta, Parkeriaceae and their remains which reflect different colors: light green, milky white, bright yellow and pale blue.
Xiongmao Hai with its cousin Jianzhu Hai (Bamboo Lake) share the crystal water and bamboo, so are haunted by giant pandas.
Other famous lakes include Luwei Hai (Reed Lake), Tiane Hai (Swan Lake),Penjing Hai(Potted Landscape Lake), Laohu Hai (Tiger Lake), Xiniu Hai(Rhinoceros Lake), which own their different characteristics.
The rivulet that runs through the lakes is also like the silk band.
