It looks similar to common Red Wen-yu except for narial membranes that are well developed with a bundle of spherical bouquet-shaped fleshy leaves protruding outside the nostrils and close to the mouth. Such bouquets first occurred among Egg-fish, and big and round ones are very precious. The two bouquets are symmetrical and sway like two bobble flowers when it swims. Those with small bouquets or with fleshy leaves scattered are inferior; what's more, the scattered fleshy leaves may block the mouth during feeding and thus affect breathing. The bouquets cannot regenerate if injured.
