Black porcelain made by Deqing ware

Deqing Ware has a history of more than 100 years, which began in the East Jin Dynasty (317-420A.D), and ended in early Southern Dynasties (420-589A.D). The porcelain body usually presents a color of brick red, purplish red or light brown. The glaze layer is quite thick, the glaze surface is moist, and the glaze color is as black as lacquer with shining glossiness, which can be matched with lacquer ware. The decoration on utensils is super simple, which is commonly cut with several lines of cord design on the rim of mouth and shoulder.

Collected in Shanghai Museum, the piece is made in the East Jin Dynasty, 24.9cm in height, 11.4cm in caliber. It has pan top, narrow neck, and there is protruding double ring design on its neck, 4 symmetrical bridge-shaped handles on its shoulders. The concave place in the middle of its bottom presents a color of adust reddish black. The whole body is applied with black glaze, the glaze surface is moist with a color as black as lacquer.กกกก

Collected in Beijing Forbidden City Museum, the piece is made in the East Jin Dynasty, 17cm in height, 7cm in caliber. It has pan top, narrow neck, ball-shaped belly and flat bottom. Short ewer mouth is decorated with chicken head, which is made by models. The upper part of dragonhead handle is flexed, holding the mouth rim in the mouth. There are symmetrical bridge-shaped ears on the two sides of its shoulders. It is applied with black glaze, which is sooty and shining, but not reaching the bottom. There are tiny crackle designs on it, the bottom revealing   the brown body.
