Milkweed Butterflies（Salatura Genutia）

  The color of its wings is orange yellow or orange red. The vein of its wings is thick and dark. The edges of its fore and hind wings are black with 2 rows of white spots, which are more outstanding in its hind wings. The tips of its fore wings are black and with a white spot ribbon. The hind wings of the male butterfly have black spots in the inner sides. The under side of the male spots is white in the middle. Mr. Zhou Yao classified it as Danaus and named it Danaus genutia. Its name means that the dark veins of its wing on the yellow wing surface looks like the stripes of a tiger.

    This kind of butterfly and its larva can gather toxic element from their food. Its enemies dare not harm them at all. Its features are imitated by many other kinds of butterflies for the purpose of defending themselves. It distributes in Henan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet in China.

    Its wingspan is 75-95 mm.
