Burmese Turtle(Indotestudo
elongata)
Habitat: reside in mountain and hill areas of tropical and sub-tropical areas; the turtles have strong heat-resisting ability.
Feeding habits: mainly vegetation baits or stems, leaves and fruits of vegetations.
Features: large-sized turtle. Adult turtle has a full body length of 20 cm and a width of 16 cm. There are symmetrical scales on the top of the turtle. The shell on its back is light yellow or whitish gray with a bit light green. In the middle of each scale, there are irregular black stripes. The head of the turtle is light yellow and the turtle have 4 thick limbs. The turtle has claws but no webs in-between its claws. The claws can help it to crawl on the ground.

Distribution: tropical areas in West and South Yunnan and Guangxi; there are also distributions in India and Vietnam internationally.
Protection: since the people in the original place regard this kind of turtles as resource animals, the turtles are caught and sold without any limitation, which in turn causes the resource to reduce sharply. Burmese turtle has been listed in Appendix II of IUCN Vulnerable (VU) CITES.
