Amphibians of All Forms
There are more than 4000 types of amphibians in the world. They are divided into 3 orders, i.e. coecilians or apodals: the main features of coecilians are: their bodies are thin and long, they have no limbs, they have short or no tails, and they look
like earthworms in shape. China has only one kind of coecilians, i.e. Ichthyophys glutinosa, which is the only representing animal of coecilians in China. Urodela. The main features of them include: they have cylindrical bodies, they have four short limbs, they have long tails with flat sides all their lives, and they crawl and they mainly live in water. They look like lizards, such as giant salamanders, which are the largest amphibian in the world today. Anura: the main features of anura are that: they have short and wide body, they have longer limbs, and their young have tails, which will disappear when grow up. They act by jumping. Their young are todpoles, which must pass the process of metamorphosis to develop from young to adult, such as frogs and toads.
